Pigmentation, Melasma & Brightening

Multi-Wavelength Melasma, Solar Lentigo & Tone Restoration with StarWalker MaQX, PicoPlus, Clarity II & Sylfirm X

Pigmentation, Melasma & Brightening

Differential Diagnosis of Epidermal, Dermal, and Mixed Vascular Melasma

Pigmentary disorders—ranging from refractory melasma and solar lentigines to freckles, ABNOM (Hori's nevus), and post-inflammatory hyperpigmentation (PIH)—rarely exist as a single uniform layer. Overly aggressive laser energy can destabilize the basement membrane and worsen melasma. At Grays Dermatology Clinic, our board-certified dermatologists use Mark-Vu multi-spectral imaging to map melanin depth and underlying vascularity before selecting the optimal wavelength combination.

Multi-Wavelength Laser Suite

  • Fotona StarWalker MaQX: Combines picosecond peak power with nanosecond pulse energy (ASP™ technology) to shatter deep dermal and epidermal pigment particles with minimal thermal collateral damage.
  • Lutronic PicoPlus: 450ps ultra-short picosecond laser across multiple wavelengths (1064nm, 532nm, 595nm, 660nm) for precise pigment clearance and photo-acoustic toning.
  • Lutronic Clarity II: Dual-wavelength (755nm Long-Pulsed Alexandrite & 1064nm Nd:YAG) platform featuring real-time temperature sensing and cryogen cooling for epidermal blemishes, dull skin tone, and redness.
  • Cynosure Revlite SI: PhotoAcoustic Technology Pulse (PTP) toning that gently fragments melanin granules while stimulating dermal collagen without downtime.
  • Viol Sylfirm X: Pulsed-wave and continuous-wave dual RF microneedling (300µm papillary dermis targeting) that repairs damaged basement membranes, coagulates abnormal micro-vessels feeding melasma, and clears senescent fibroblasts.
  • Medical Brightening Care: Combined with LDM MED, Ionzyme vitamin iontophoresis, and barrier-repair soothing in private suites.

Clinical Considerations & Risks

Pigmentation clearance requires a tailored treatment series and diligent daily broad-spectrum UV protection. Depending on pigment type, temporary erythema or fine micro-crusts (3–7 days for targeted spot treatment) may occur. Results vary by individual.

This clinical guide is for informational purposes and does not replace an in-person dermatological examination. Individual treatment plans, parameters, and recovery vary by skin anatomy and condition.
